Sandi’s Journey of Healing

At Sahara Home Care, we are privileged to witness the power of art and music in transforming our clients’ lives. In our latest video, we visit Sandi, a remarkable client from our Lombard office, whose journey through health challenges has shaped her into a beacon of positivity and resilience.

Sandi’s story is one of courage. After undergoing knee replacement surgery on both knees and an eye surgery that resulted in poor vision in one eye, Sandi shares how her memory has taken a toll. Yet, she refuses to let her circumstances define her.

Through her love for painting and music, she creates a sanctuary for her emotions and memories. Art becomes not just a hobby but a vital form of therapy that helps her cope with the memory issues she faces. Her caregiver shares that when Sandi begins to feel low, they turn on the radio as an effective coping strategy.

Sandi also plays the guitar, which she finds essential for jogging her memory. The melodies not only connect her to cherished moments but also provide a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos of her health challenges. She illustrates how music and art are “things that you have to do when you’re disabled, when you get older, when you think ‘oh my gosh, I am going to lose my eyes.’ You push through.”

Her infectious positivity and determination to keep smiling, despite life’s obstacles, inspire everyone around her. Sandi’s story reminds us to live, not just survive.

We are honored to support Sandi at Sahara Home Care, celebrating her journey and wishing her continued success, health, and love. Sandi is determined to live a long and prosperous life, stating, “I am going to live to be 300 years old.” Join us in watching her inspiring story, and perhaps you too will find beauty and healing power in art, music, and optimism.

Let’s continue to spread positivity and support those who inspire us every day!
